Recipe | Grilled Asparagus with Pecorino

As most of your know, we recently introduced a new BBQ onto our quaint little patio. This thing is pretty incredible. It’s a Weber – which we all know means “crème de la crème” in grilling – and it is also super cute blue colour – which we all know means… “Ally’s happy”. 🙂 But in truth, the best thing about the BBQ is the delicious grilled meats and veg that come from it. These lovely Grilled Asparagus with Pecorino, especially. I hope you enjoy as much as I do!

Grilled Asparagus with Pecorino

Serves: 4


  • 1 lb. asparagus, woody ends trimmed
  • A good pinch of coarse salt
  • A good pinch of freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup fresh Pecorino Romano, shaved


Preheat your grill on high – then M.O.M it, ie. Medium Off Medium…. or turn it down to medium. You want the temperature hovering around 350F – 425F.

Toss the asparagus in the olive oil, salt and pepper. Then place on the grilled perpendicular to the grill lines, ie. you want to make a mark on your asparagus, and not lose them between the grills. Let the asparagus cook about 5 minutes, then using tongs just roll them to grill the other side for a minute or so. In total, they should really only be on the grill 10 minutes at most. They will still have a slight crunch, but that’s the way I like them.

Remove from the grill onto a serving platter, and top with a little more freshly cracked black pepper, and the Pecorino shavings.

Enjoy with your favourite BBQ chicken or anything else that tastes delicious on the BBQ. 🙂
