What a fantastic day to be dreaming of all the lovely destinations we can go in the world! It’s wet outside. Like, more rain than I’ve seen in a while, wet. And that’s saying a lot, considering I live in the Pacific Northwest. So, what do I have for you today? What I have found to be the most affordable destinations for 2017.
If you’re looking to book your flight to that special destination, you may just be in the right place. Treat yourself, but treat yourself on a budget this year. Click here for great deals on that dream vacation!
I dream about returning to South America. And Chile seems to be calling my name. We found the dollar goes a long way, and it seems to be under-traveled by North Americans. When we went to Colombia a few years back, we were surrounded by Europeans, but not very many of us from up north. Chile with it’s vibrant food and wine scene, is just what the doctor ordered. I can handle wine bars and yummy tapas, quaint hotels and a typical South American hectic city. It’s an experience next to none, and one I almost want to keep a secret.
If you’ve been following my blog since the beginning, you’ll likely know that I have a slight obsession with Greece. And now with the weakened Euro, this destination is a heck of a lot more affordable than it previously was – and this is especially true in Greece. It’s struggling economy could really use the tourist dollars. This is quite apparent in the price of hotels. A four-star hotel under $150 is unheard of in most parts of the world. Picture yourself sipping Retsina, munching on a plate of Saganaki, and finishing off with a fresh and tasty Ekmek. And likely all for $20 or so. Can’t deny that sounds appealing.
Believe it or not, this seems to be the year of Morocco – and I might be a little late to the party to inform you. I have been bombarded with social media posts from friends who have already shown me the way on this one. Travel from your typical European hubs to places like Marrakech, are going for $60 – $150 round trip! And living like a Queen, without breaking the bank, is the name of the game in Morocco. You’ll be looking at another $60 – $100 per night for a 4-post canopy bed, spa, pool, and oasis from the bustling city. Think of all the spices you’ll be able to stock your pantry with!
I mean it’s alright. Only the most beautiful city I’ve ever been to. Only the place that I could see my self living. And only the place that I could have dropped everything for, cancelled my flight home, quit my job… ok, ok, you get it. And now, Barcelona is on the affordable list? This just made my day. Walk Las Ramblas, get lost in the La Boqueria Market, dance a little Flamenco, drink all the Sangria, eat your heart out of tapas and paella. And all for a heck of a lot cheaper than you think. Just be sure to book early. People will catch on, and prices will sky-rocket eventually.
Sure it’ll take you forever and a day to get here, but the trip will be worth it. This exotic destination has long been on my most wanted list of places to do a yoga workshop, get a tan, and catch up on some much needed R&R. And now, you can stay at a private villa with a pool for around $50 a night? Thank you Airbnb, you really know how to ensure an authentic experience without dishing out all the dough. And today, because you’re reading this post. I’ll even toss in this link, where you can get that first night free! Click here for $50 CAD off your first night!
So there you have it – five affordable travel destinations for 2017. There are plenty others, so be sure to comment, if you’re curious to see more!
