RECIPE | Moroccan Mint Green Iced Tea (Cocktail)

Hola! Another week, another Monday morning, and another deliciously refreshing recipe to quench your thirst this week. You can easily make this a cocktail, and whip up a frenzy for a weekend BBQ or picnic. Bring on the summer, I’m definitely ready for it!

Moroccan Mint Green Iced Tea (Cocktail)

Yield: 4 Servings

  • 4 green tea bags
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 handful fresh mint leaves, plus some for serving
  • 3 – 4 Tbsp simple syrup*
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Sparkling water
  • Ice
  • Gin (my preference) or Vodka, optional

In a pot with a tight-fitting lid, bring water to a boil. Pop in the tea bags, cover, and let steep for 5 minutes. Stir in the mint, cover, and let steep for another 5 minutes. Strain the tea into a jug or pitcher. Stir in the simple syrup*, to taste, and lemon juice. Refrigerate until cold.

Serve over ice, top with sparkling water, and fresh mint.

To make a cocktail, add ice, fresh mint, an ounce of gin or vodka, and a couple ounces of the tea mixture to a cocktail shaker. Shake well, and strain over ice. Top with sparkling water.

*Simple syrup. Equal parts water and sugar to a saucepan. Heat until sugar has dissolved. Cool. Use.
