I don’t know about you, but I’m been a pretty big fan of having one cocktail on a Monday night. Something that sings you into the week, tastes delicious, and likely puts you to sleep easily. That cocktail, for me, is my Perfect Martini.
Now, I’ve taken a few bartending courses, and actually been a bartender myself at one point in my life, and found that my Perfect Martini is a little different than the books. So without further adieu, I give you your next cocktail of choice… complete with Castelvetrano Olives, because they’re so on fleek right about now…
AND you need some beautiful martini glasses. We got the ones’ photographed for an apartment Christmas present last year, and our martini’s actually taste better than our previous ones’ in a tumbler glass. These are lovely, as are these classic ones too.
Lastly, you need your favourite gin. Now, I know some of you are vodka fans, but I don’t think you’re getting THE perfect martini with vodka. While it’s tasty, it’s just not the same. I will post another recipe of a Vodka Martini soon though!
The Perfect Martini
- 4 oz. gin (our favourite is Bombay)
- 1/2 oz. dry vermouth
- 10 Castelvetrano Olives
Add gin and vermouth to a cocktail shaker. Add in ice to fill approximately half way. Top with lid, and shake vigorously. You don’t necessarily want to “bruise” the gin, but you do want it to be COLD and slightly “watered” down. I usually shake for 45 seconds – Mark shakes for 30 seconds…. but he’s stronger. 😉
Strain into martini glasses, and add in olives or place on a cocktail skewer.
Sip. And Enjoy.
Don’t go nuts with these, and as always please drink responsibly. Remember that you’re drinking straight alcohol here. It’s not a beer. It’s 40% alcohol. It’s meant to be savoured.
And there you have it.
Now, go have yourself a Perfect Martini – you deserve it!
